Donald Trump abruptly ended his speech due to a medical emergency

President Donald Trump was forced to cut his speech short during a White House press conference due to a medical emergency.

At the time, Trump was swearing in TV personality, Dr. Memhet Oz, who will serve as the administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) during Trump’s presidency.

The reason Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt terminated the briefing and asked the reporters to vacate the room was because a girl collapsed during the ceremony, the Irish Star reported.

“Press out,” Leavitt could be heard saying.

Realizing something serious was going on, President Trump cut his speech and left the podium in order to assist. “I hope she’s OK,” he was heard saying.

Dr. Oz could be seen rushing off camera to offer help.

Video showed the young girl being hastily accompanied out of the room.
The White House later confirmed that a “minor family member” fainted during the ceremony, adding they were now fine. The statement read, “A minor family member fainted during Dr Oz’s swearing in ceremony in the Oval Office. We are happy to say she is OK.”

When Trump introduced Dr. Oz, he said he has “come to this position as one of the nation’s most talented and beloved medical professionals.”

The president then read Dr. Oz’s qualifications, stating he had graduated from Harvard University. He obtained a Doctor of Medicine and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and Penn’s Wharton School, respectively.

Dr. Oz then worked as a heart surgeon and professor of cardiac surgery at Columbia University and as the Director of the Cardiovascular Institute and integrative medicine program at New York Presbyterian Hospital.

He started his health and wellness talk show, The Dr. Oz Show in 2009. It ended in 2022.

During the years his show was on air, it came under scrutiny because of some of the controversial medical advice Dr. Oz presented to the audience.

Among the rest, his statement that green coffee extract is a ‘magic weight loss cure’ was condemned by the Federal Trade Commission.

Dr. Oz’ appointment to CMS was confirmed earlier this month with a 53-45 Senate vote.
