Get Ready: Buck Full Moon Is Coming And It’s Time To Manifest Big

The evening sky will be illuminated by a Buck Full Moon on Friday, July 11, 2025.

What is a “Buck” moon, though?

Continue reading to discover more about it and how you may commemorate the heavenly occasion.

What is the meaning of the Buck Moon?
The July full moon is known as the “Buck Moon,” and like most full moon names, its origins can be traced back to Indigenous American customs.

The Algonquin people coined the phrase after observing that male deer, or bucks, started to grow new antlers in July. These antlers were wrapped in soft, velvety fur.

Since then, the word has become widely used in everything from contemporary lunar calendars to farmers’ almanacks.

The Buck Moon is frequently linked to transformation, growth, and grounding energy, even outside of its woods origins.

Consider it a lunar permission slip to shed old layers and begin your next chapter; it’s a cosmic cue to reflect, re-align, and welcome personal transformation.

What is a Buck Moon in Australia?
The full moon in July is still referred to as the “Buck Moon” in Australia, but with a seasonal twist.

In the north, July is associated with deer activity throughout the summer, yet in Australia, it is the dead of winter.

Therefore, the Buck Moon still has the same symbolic significance of development, metamorphosis, and re-establishing energy even though we don’t have bucks growing antlers in our backyards.

What time can you see the Buck Moon tonight?
At 6:38 AM AEST on Friday, July 11, 2025, it will reach its peak.

The Buck Moon will rise once more that evening at 5:37 PM AEST if that seems a little early to you.

The moon will appear almost full—roughly 99% illuminated—despite being a little past its zenith.

What should I do to celebrate the Buck Moon?
To honour the Buck Moon, you can do the following:

Moon-gaze and manifest: Set aside some time to spend time with the moon, whether it’s early in the morning or just after sunset. Jot down the things you’re calling in and letting go of. If you’re feeling particularly witchy, burn the paper (safely, of course) and read it out like a spell.
Soak up the vibes: Run a bath, light some incense, toss in a handful of sea salt, and let go of anything you don’t want to carry into the second half of the year.
Do something sacred: Meditate, pull a tarot card, charge your crystals in the moonlight, or just sip tea in complete silence. This is your sacred ritual; do what feels magical to you.
