Bogotá, Colombia – Angie Xiomara Valencia ‘s name resonated on social media as that of a cheerful, enterprising young woman with dreams to fulfill. Her life, however, was marked by a tragic ending that has shocked the country. Behind that story lies the name of a man many today consider a symbol of horror and betrayal: Víctor Cardona, the person who, according to the investigation, did the worst thing to Angie.

Angie Xiomara was just 24 years old. She was a university student, a lover of art and cooking, and maintained a strong presence on social media where she shared her life naturally. For some time, she had been in a relationship with Víctor Cardona, a man 12 years her senior, who appeared stable and “kind” to those around her. But behind that image lay a dark reality.

According to Angie’s close friends, the young woman began to show warning signs: progressive isolation, anxiety, and a constant state of alert. “She told us he was jealous, that he didn’t like her talking to others, that he checked her cell phone. But she also said she loved him very much… and she went back to him again and again,” says a friend who preferred to remain anonymous.

Last Sunday, everything reached a point of no return. Angie was found dead in the apartment she shared with Víctor, in northern Bogotá. Her body showed signs of physical violence and asphyxiation. The scene left authorities speechless. Cardona had fled.
