Mom of 9-Year-Old Influencer with Stage 4 Cancer Says ‘Every Day Feels Heavy’ as She Shares Emotional Health Update

Influencer Brie Bird’s Mom Shares Heartbreaking Health Update
On Monday, Oct. 27, Kendra Bird posted a family photo on Instagram, updating followers about her 9-year-old daughter, Brie, who battles stage 4 cancer. Kendra wrote that Brie “has been sleeping most of the week, retaining water in her face, feet, and belly, not eating, and is on oxygen regularly.”

“As much as I want a miracle, the realistic part of my mind keeps pulling my heart back, telling my soul to surrender,” Kendra continued. “I’m hurting. Every day feels heavy.”

A Five-Year Battle
Brie was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer five years ago. Earlier this year, she entered hospice care. Kendra has shared her journey on Instagram under the handle @briestrongerthancancer, which now has nearly one million followers.

A Touching Moment
In her latest update, Kendra recounted a tender conversation with Brie.

“One morning at her bedside, she said, ‘Someone is talking to me from heaven, an older person, maybe a grandma or grandpa; they said my name,’” Kendra wrote. She added, “I put on my brave face and asked what else the angels were saying. She couldn’t keep her eyes open for long but promised to tell me more later.”

Early Celebration and Small Joys
Earlier in October, the Bird family celebrated Christmas a few months early after Kendra shared that Brie’s health had “taken a turn.”

“We decided to give her a blood transfusion to help her have some good days,” Kendra wrote. “It lowered her heart rate, reduced her fever, improved her oxygen, and gave us great conversations!”

A Special Surprise from Ariana Grande
Brie’s story captured the attention of pop star Ariana Grande in August. Grande sent a care package filled with Wicked-themed goodies, including plush characters from The Wizard of Oz, OPI nail polish inspired by Wicked, two bold pink zip-up bags, a tote, makeup from Grande’s brand R.E.M., and a bottle of Cloud Perfume.

In a video, Brie expressed her gratitude:
“Thank you so, so, so, so much, Ariana Grande. I love everything — especially the Squishmallows and the perfume.”

Finding Strength Amid Struggles
Despite her ongoing battle, Brie continues to inspire thousands. Kendra’s updates capture the love, hope, and moments of joy in a life overshadowed by illness. Through every struggle, small victories — like laughter, gifts, or meaningful conversations — bring light to the family’s journey.
