Donald Trump receives chronic vein diagnosis following public concern over recent photos

President Trump Diagnosed with Chronic Vein Condition
President Donald Trump has been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency (CVI), according to a White House update. The 79-year-old’s condition was confirmed after medical tests revealed visible swelling in his lower legs, raising concerns about his health.

What Is CVI?
Cleveland Clinic describes CVI as a condition where leg veins are damaged and unable to properly return bl0*d to the heart. Damaged valves allow bl0*d to pool in the legs, increasing vein pressure and causing symptoms like swelling, discomfort, and ulcers.

Visible Symptoms Sparked Questions
Swelling near Trump’s ankles prompted further investigation. For months, observers also noticed bruising on the back of his right hand, which drew public attention—especially after photos showed a yellow bruise in February during a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron.

White House Responds to Concerns
At a press briefing on July 17, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed the diagnosis. She explained that Trump underwent a full medical evaluation, including lab tests and cardiac exams.

“There was no evidence of deep vein thrombosis or arterial disease,” Leavitt said, quoting the president’s physician.
“All results were within normal limits.”

When asked about Trump’s comfort, Leavitt assured reporters that he remains in excellent health and has not reported pain from the bruising.

Ongoing Signs of Bruising
Photographs over several months have shown repeated discoloration and marks on Trump’s hand. In March and April, darker spots appeared during official events, which the White House attributed to “normal activity” and being “busy at work.”

How Common Is CVI?
Cleveland Clinic estimates that 1 in 3 adults develop varicose veins, and of those, 1 in 50 progresses to CVI. Overall, about 1 in 20 adults lives with chronic venous insufficiency.

Health Outlook Remains Positive
Despite the diagnosis, the White House emphasizes that President Trump is doing well. Officials characterize the condition as manageable and unlikely to impact his duties or campaign efforts.
