Police Provide New Update in Search for Savannah Guthrie’s Missing Mother

NBC Today show co-host Savannah Guthrie is facing a terrifying family emergency: her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, has gone missing from her home in the Catalina Foothills, north of Tucson, Arizona. Nancy was last seen on Saturday, and concern mounted when she didn’t show up to church on Sunday, prompting a friend to alert authorities.

Search-and-rescue teams have been scouring the area both on the ground and from the air since then. On Sunday, February 1, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos held a press conference to provide details. While a homicide team was brought in to assist, investigators initially had no confirmed signs of criminal activity.

“We’re throwing everything we have at this case,” Sheriff Nanos said. “Nancy Guthrie is 84 and not in good physical health, which is a serious concern. What we’re seeing at the residence is troubling, and detectives are examining the scene thoroughly.”

Savannah Guthrie did not appear on the Today show on Monday. In a statement shared with the program, she said:
“On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers, and messages of support. Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom. We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at 520-351-4900.”
