Spanish PM’s three-word response to Trump’s trade threat

As images of smoke over Tehran circulated across global media, Spain refused to quietly align with military action against Iran. The Spanish government barred the use of its military bases for potential strikes, insisting that any operation must comply with the United Nations Charter and respect international law.

The response from Donald Trump was immediate and forceful. He threatened to halt trade with Spain, transforming a foreign policy disagreement into a tense confrontation between allies. The economic pressure was significant, given the longstanding political and commercial ties between Washington and Madrid.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez responded with a firm message, declaring “No to war.” He framed Spain’s stance as a defense of peace, legality, and national sovereignty. The dispute exposed growing tension within the transatlantic alliance over military intervention.
