Teen C0.llapses During Practice
Joshua Henderson, a 16-year-old football player at Bolton High School in Arlington, Tennessee, d**d on Saturday from complications caused by a severe heatstr0.ke. According to his family, he battled organ failure in the hospital for weeks before passing.

Kristen Henderson, his aunt, told ABC News that Joshua c0.llapsed during football practice on July 6. His mother had just dropped him off when she got a call saying he was unresponsive. By the time she arrived, emergency responders were rushing him to the hospital.

A Bright Future Cut Short
Joshua was preparing for his senior year and had big dreams. He hoped to earn a football scholarship to the University of Florida and study engineering. Playing both offensive and defensive line, he had already drawn interest from college scouts.

“He was so good,” his aunt said. “He was a gentle giant.”

A Community in Mourning
Memphis-Shelby County Schools released a heartfelt statement, describing Joshua as an “exceptional athlete and dedicated scholar.” They praised his kindness, determination, and positive spirit, which left a mark on classmates, teachers, and the broader Bolton High School community.

His family echoed that sentiment. “He was deeply loved by his parents, siblings, extended family, and all who knew him,” they wrote on their GoFundMe page. “His sudden loss has left our hearts shattered and our world forever changed. Joshua’s life, though short, was meaningful and full of light.”

Support for Students and Staff
In response to the tragedy, school officials have made grief counselors and support staff available to students and faculty in the days ahead.

The Dangers of Extreme Heat
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), extreme heat remains the deadliest weather-related hazard in the U.S., ki**ing approximately 2,000 people each year. So far in 2025, at least 150 heat-related d**ths have already been reported.
