New Suspect Who Allegedly Shot Charlie Kirk Identified & Is In Custody – Details

Authorities have arrested someone they think killed Charlie Kirk, a 31-year-old political activist who was shot and killed at a rally at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025. The arrest has shocked Utah and gotten a lot of attention across the country.

Tyler Robinson, 22, is the suspect. He is a scholarship student at Utah State University. Police said he was arrested after telling his father, Matt Robinson, a veteran of the Washington County Sheriff’s Department and the U.S. Marshals Service, what he had done.

Matt Robinson got his son safe and then called the police right away. This led to Tyler’s arrest late on September 11 in southern Utah. His willingness to work together was key to the quick resolution. Authorities said that Tyler was wearing clothes that matched what was seen on surveillance footage from the night of the shooting.

Donald Trump, who used to be president, quickly called for the death penalty if Tyler is found guilty. Investigators also confirmed that the prosecutors will ask for the death penalty in the case. Tyler’s mugshots were made public, which got even more attention across the country.

Tyler’s family lives in a six-bedroom house in Washington, Utah, where they are well-known. Amber Robinson, his mother, works for Intermountain Support Coordination Services, which helps people with disabilities. Tyler is the oldest of three brothers.

The day after the arrest, Governor Spencer Cox and FBI Director Kash Patel spoke to the public. Cox said that Tyler had recently become more involved in politics, while Patel stressed how quickly the investigation was moving. He praised the thousands of tips that had been sent in and how quickly law enforcement was moving forward.

Tyler is said to have mentioned at a recent family dinner that Charlie Kirk would be speaking at Utah Valley University. This comment is now seen as very creepy. Investigators are still looking into his reasons.

Tyler Robinson is still in jail while the legal process moves forward. Authorities say that the arrest is a big step forward, but the investigation is far from over.
