BREAKING NEWS Just hours ago

On a busy Friday evening in Dubai Marina, panic swept through a 67-storey residential tower after a sudden blaze forced the evacuation of nearly 4,000 residents.

Confusion marked the early moments. Some tenants smelled smoke in corridors, while others only realized the danger after spotting fire trucks outside. Several reported that alarms failed to activate, leaving them reliant on friends’ warnings. “We thought it was just cooking smoke—until security told us to leave,” recalled one resident from the 24th floor.

Thick haze soon filled stairwells, and while safety advice usually forbids elevators during fires, many residents used them under the guidance of building staff and Dubai Civil Defence officers. Neighbors in nearby towers were also evacuated as smoke drifted across the Marina.

Despite stress and chaos, witnesses praised the swift response of emergency teams, who calmly directed crowds and ensured families reached safety. Hotels across the area provided temporary shelter, while some families stayed with friends.

Authorities have launched an investigation into possible alarm malfunctions. For residents, relief outweighed loss: belongings can be replaced, but as one evacuee said, “Lives cannot.”
