JD Vance Rushed to Capitol — Trouble Unfolds on Senate Floor

Senator JD Vance made a dramatic entrance on the Senate floor Tuesday — casting not one, but two tie-breaking votes to push forward a $9.4 billion rescissions package that has stunned Washington.

The plan aims to slash government funding for NPR, PBS, USAID, and more. It passed the House, but deadlocked in the Senate… until Vance showed up.

Three Republicans crossed the aisle to block it — including Susan Collins, who warned of losing access to “Antiques Road Show” and local broadcasting.

But critics say federal media funding is biased and outdated. Bill Maher even backed the cuts after NPR’s CEO faced tough questions.

What’s in the package? Over $8B from USAID. $1.1B from public broadcasting. And a potential $400M cut to PEPFAR, still under negotiation.

This vote could reshape how Americans get their news.
