People Are Coming Out As Berris**ual

What “Berrisual” Means — and Why It’s Gaining Attention Online**

A new identity term, berrisual**, is emerging across online queer spaces like Reddit,

Tumblr, and LGBTQ+ wikis. It describes people who are attracted to

women and feminine or androgynous genders,

but only rarely to men or masculine genders.

As one Urban Dictionary entry explains,

it refers to “someone attracted to women and feminine genders and androgynous genders,

but also very rarely attracted to men and masculine genders.”

On Tumblr, users say it fits those who “usually only feel

attraction to feminine or nonbinary people, but occasionally to masculine ones.”

Many who adopt the label say it helps them express their attraction more precisely.

One Reddit user wrote, “Now I don’t have to pick because berri fits like a glove.”

While still new and niche, berrisual** highlights how people continue to

develop language that captures the fluid, nuanced nature of attraction and identity.
