Woman her husband on honeymoon after he refuses to …
What should have been the happiest chapter of a new life became one of the darkest crime stories India has seen in years.

On May 20, businessman Raja Raghuvanshi arrived in the misty hills of Shillong, hand in hand with his new wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi. Friends and relatives believed the couple was beginning their future with a dream honeymoon — fresh vows, fresh promises, and memories waiting to be made.

But behind the wedding smiles, investigators say, hid a carefully constructed lie.

Just days later, Raja vanished.

When his body was finally discovered in a remote canyon outside the city, the scene told a chilling story. He was already decomposing. His identification was gone. His wedding ring — the symbol of his new marriage — had disappeared. The joyful beginning had ended in silent devastation.

At first, suspicion fell on Raj Kushwaha, a man believed to be romantically linked to Sonam. Police thought they had found the motive: jealousy and a secret affair.

But as phone records were analyzed and movements traced, the case took a shocking turn.

According to authorities, the real mastermind was not a hidden lover.

It was the bride herself.

Investigators revealed that Sonam allegedly manipulated Raja with convincing affection while secretly organizing his betrayal. She is accused of recruiting three men — Vishal Singh, Anand Kurmi, and Akash Rajput — promising them money in exchange for carrying out the act.

Police believe Sonam tracked Raja’s movements during the trip, sharing his location and timing. Between May 23 and 24, Raja was likely ambushed during an outing and pushed into the gorge, where his life ended far from help, far from the woman he trusted most.

What makes the story even more disturbing is what happened next.

After the incident, Raj Kushwaha reportedly returned to Indore expecting to meet Sonam again, believing they would continue their relationship. Instead, he discovered another betrayal: Sonam was allegedly involved with yet another man and had begun planning to eliminate Raj as well — removing anyone who could expose her secrets.

It was phone data that finally unraveled everything.

Call logs, location pings, and digital messages connected Sonam to the suspects and to the planning behind the crime. On June 8, police arrested her. During questioning, authorities say she confessed.

News of the case spread rapidly across India, leaving people stunned.

How could someone stand at a wedding altar, make sacred promises, and within days arrange a partner’s m*rder?

Psychologists say such cases reveal how manipulation can hide behind charm, how trust can be used as a weapon, and how greed can erase empathy. What shocks many is not only the brutality of the act, but the emotional performance that preceded it — the smiles, the photos, the rituals, the illusion of love.

For Raja’s family, the pain is beyond words. They lost a son, a brother, a husband — and gained only unanswered questions and lifelong grief.

For the public, the case has become a symbol of how appearances can deceive, and how even the most sacred relationships can be twisted by ambition and betrayal.

Authorities continue to investigate the involvement of all suspects, ensuring that each person connected to the plot faces justice.

What began as a honeymoon in the clouds ended as a nightmare carved into stone.

A story not of romance…

…but of lies, greed, and a vow that became a trap.

And a reminder that sometimes, the most dangerous betrayal does not come from strangers — but from the person who once promised to love you forever.
